A solitary tract is a central root of caudal rhombencephalon [radix centralis rhombencephali caudalis ] which extends longitudinally in the posterolateral region of the caudal rhombencephalon [rhombencephalon caudale ] up to the first segments of the spinal cord [medulla spinalis ], composed of fibers from the trigeminal nerve [nervus trigeminalis ], facial nerve [nervus facialis ], glossopharyngeal nerve [nervus glossopharyngeus ] and vagus nerve [nervus vagus ].
