English and Latin navigation with English interface

Navigate TA98

Click a red button at the top nodes of the TA98 to open it. Click a green button on any branch of the hierarchy to close it. Click an orange button to reopen it. On any section marked with an empty button , click one of the or button to access the short or extended version of the list.

The lists are presented in the selected languages (main language, subsidiary language and presentation language). The initial setting of languages may be changed at any moment on any list: use the navigation section on top of each list. Return to the present page of orientation is also possible from any list.

Navigation is either based on the upper levels of the TA98 hierarchy or it can be done in alphabetical order of the sections of TA98. Click the button to the left of "alphabetically" to open the alphabetical list, and click again to close it.

TA98 was officially published by IFAA in 1998, in Latin and English. Translations in Spanish and Russian were later made available by the corresponding national societies. A private translation in French is also available. These different versions are used in the following TA98 lists.

The TA98 is made of 16 chapters, each of which is subdivided into a number of subchapters and sections, which are further subdivided into subsections. Then, we access the TA98 lists with a variable number of indented entities according to the partonomic hierarchy. The present version is limited to the chapters of TA98 corresponding to the Terminologia neuroanatomica.

The 16 chapters are at level 1 of the hierarchy. The subchapters are at level 2 and the sections are at level 3. The subsections are at level 4. Any list at a higher level is usually subdivided into a number of sublists at the next level. The user can select any level 2, 3 or 4 to view the entities. Level 1 and possibly 2 (depending on the size of the chapter) are reserved for navigation.

The TA98 lists, like any other hierarchical lists, have a signature computed from their content, but independant of the language. The signature is compared with a stored value when the list has been validated. A successful comparison indicates that the list is currently valid.
